Eminem And Lil Wayne Rock 'SNL': Fans Hope For Duet LP

Eminem and Lil Wayne gave rap fans exactly what they’ve wished for the holidays — a collaborative performance to send off 2010.

"The energy in the building is historical and its extra special to see everybody fight for position backstage to see Lil
Wayne take over 'SNL,' " DJ Scoob Doo told MTV News.

On Saturday (December 18), Eminem performed on NBC’s comedy sketch show, “Saturday Night Live” with Lil Wayne. The New Orleans-native-turned-Miami-resident took the stage alongside Detroit’s golden boy to perform a live version of “No Love,” flanked by a full band. Lil Wayne, dressed in a white t-shirt, jeans and a White Sox baseball cap, perfectly complimented the toned-down performance of Eminem. Sporting a brown leather bomber, t-shirt, jeans and knitted cap, Eminem ran through his lyrics with the ease of a professional.

Later in the show, Eminem performed “Not Afraid,” dressed in a black jacket and grey skull cap, with his band as producer and D-12 member served as his hypeman. As Em wrapped his song, the musicians began playing the acoustic version of Lil Wayne’s recently released “6’ 7’ “ track featuring Bronx upstart Cory Gunz. While the young MC wasn’t present to spit his bars, Lil Wayne’s presence more than made up for his absence.

Outside of Drake’s Lights Dreams And Nightmares Tour stop in Las Vegas, days after Wayne was released from Rikers Island in early November, Saturday was the first performance fans have seen from Weezy. Here's what fans had to say about the show.

"OK, I know this is typical me but not moved by this Wayne/Em performance. I mean, it's not bad but it's rappers bouncing and rapping," FWMJ of Rappers I Know.com tweeted.

Elsewhere a younger fan tweeted that Em and Lil Tunechi's show was the best in the show's history.

"You mean best 'SNL' performance you've seen," Nelson George, author and co-producer of "Good Hair," tweeted. "Show has been on since '70s. Lots of great performances before Em and Wayne were born."

Another fan had to salute Lil Wayne's performance, albeit begrudgingly.

"Half the time I'm a Wayne hater but say what you want the dude preforms like a champ," Doublex said in a comment on 2DopeBoyz.com. "He raps the entire thing himself and he puts huge effort into it, big props."

Finally, one commenter took the 'SNL' appearance as hope for what many in hip-hop wish could happen.

"I f--- with the 'No Love' track, [and an] Eminem and Wayne Album I could definitely tolerate," Troyvul wrote on NahRight.com.

Lil Wayne Tweets From New Orleans

On Friday (November 5), Lil Wayne and the Young Money Cash Money Boys headed to New Orleans for the Hornets vs. Miami Heat. Courtesy of NBA star Chris Paul, the gentlemen enjoyed a great view of the competition, and later Wayne took to Twitter in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

"Live a lie. Better off dead," the MC tweeted.

On Friday morning, Weezy told his fans exactly what he was doing with a salute to one of hip-hop's fallen soldiers.

"With the family ... perfekto ... R.I.P. Huddy6 ... Harlem stand up!" he tweeted.

Huddy 6, a Harlem MC who counted Cam'ron and Diddy as friends as well as Slime Flu MC Vado, passed away last month in a car crash.

MTV News spoke to Young Money President Mack Maine before the basketball game.

"We about to go to the Heat game, they playing the Hornets," Mack said. "[Hornets Guard Chris Paul] provided us courtside tickets. We just celebrating life, just trying to pick up where we left off from. We'll hit the studio soon, we got the party Sunday, [but] right now, this is where it all started."

When media asked Wayne how it felt to be back in the free world, he said "Like I never left,” according to the Times-Picayne.
