Snow Cancels Lady Gaga Concert in Paris

In October, the pop diva's concerts in Paris were postponed amid nationwide strikes over a government plan to raise the retirement age. One show was rescheduled for Sunday, but it was called off because of snow.
The weather led authorities to ban big trucks from driving through the Ile de France region that includes Paris. Lady Gaga's trucks couldn't get to the venue on time, concert venue Bercy stadium said on its Web site.

A concert Monday is expected to go forward as planned, and the canceled show is likely to be rescheduled for Tuesday, Bercy said.

The diva vented on Twitter, writing that "all 28" of the trucks carrying sets for her elaborate show had been detained. She said had wanted to do a show without the sets, but even sound and power equipment was blocked.

"I am furious and devastated," she wrote, adding that it was "unfair to my fans and to me."

Lady Gaga also wrote that two of her employees were "arrested trying to get into Paris so we could perform," without elaborating. French police, the singer's representatives and the concert venue did not immediately return calls and e-mails seeking comment on that claim.

Ilene Woods, voice of 'Cinderella,' dies

LOS ANGELES, July 4 (UPI) -- Ilene Woods, whose voice gave life to the 1950 Disney classic, "Cinderella," died in Los Angeles at age 81.
Woods died Thursday of Alzheimer's-related complications at a nursing home in Canoga Park, her husband, longtime "Tonight Show" drummer Ed Shaughnessy, told the Los Angeles Times.
"I loved doing the character," Woods, who beat out more than 300 other singers who auditioned for the part, told the Houston Chronicle in 2005. "When my dad saw the movie, he said he saw me in the facial expressions, hand movements and mannerisms. (Animator) Marc Davis would watch me record and picked up on things."
Woods spent the next two years making recordings at the Disney studio. "Walt would sit down at the table with us at meals, and we discussed the movie together. It was just magical. There was a happiness and joy," Woods said.
"One of the things about her performance is the warmth she gave the character," animation critic Charles Solomon told the Times. "As soon as she began to speak, her voice meshed with Marc Davis' animation to create a heroine you liked instantly."

Lindsay Lohan's catfight over Dan Cipriani

EXCLUSIVE: She claims waitress hit her
England rugby star Danny Cipriani was caught up in a vicious catfight which ended with Hollywood bad girl Lindsay Lohan claiming she was punched in the face.
Cipriani, 22, was at Lindsay's 24th birthday party at Voyeur nightclub in West Hollywood when waitress Jasmine Waltz - who he has dated since splitting with model Kelly Brook - allegedly flew into a rage when she saw Mean Girls star Lindsay flirting with him.

It's claimed that Jasmine ran across to Lindsay's table and struck her across the face. A witness said: "They exchanged words then, before anyone could intervene, Jasmine leapt on Lindsay and attacked her." According to the source Lindsay looked "visibly rattled" and later wrote on her Twitter page: "A waitress just hit me - punched me for no reason."
But wannabe actress Jasmine, 27, claimed Lindsay had made up the allegations. She said: "All I have to say is that disturbed little train wreck is delusional. I did not hit her."
She added: "But I would like to. " The rumour mill has been churning since Lindsay and Danny met and swapped numbers while watching the England-USA football game in Hollywood on June 12.

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman decides not to go for Nevada governor

Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, whose gin-fueled, showgirl-adorned exploits are the stuff of political legend, announced today that he won’t run for Nevada governor. He’d been toying with the idea for years and, facing term limits in 2011, had even consulted with former Minnesota Gov. Jesse “The Body” Ventura about campaigning as an independent.

Oscar being Oscar, he dragged out the decision-making process for nearly as long as possible – even (unofficially) inviting reporters to watch him change his voter registration from Democrat to nonpartisan. But today, with the Feb. 4 deadline looming for filing signatures to run as an independent, Goodman told reporters he didn’t want to be away from his family in wintry Carson City.

“I feel like there’s a weight off my back, because I did not want to wake up without my wife next to me,” he said. “How could I start my day without her being there? … She applauds me every morning.”

Funny thing is, he could conceivably have won, making Western Governors Assn. meetings -- and every other official event -- way more entertaining.

Instead, Oscar made Clark County Commissioner Rory Reid’s life somewhat easier. Oscar’s bid would probably have siphoned votes from the presumptive Democratic gubernatorial nominee, whose impressive fundraising and awful polling resembles that of his father, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

It’s also rumored that, once Oscar’s third term ends, he might have another mayoral candidate to stump for: his wife, Carolyn.
