CHILDHOOD STARS - THEN & NOW - From Laura Ingalls to Melissa Gilbert

MELISSA GILBERT first came to us as Laura Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie.

Submerged in series that upheld classic family values, love, friendship, morals, & religion, Laura Ingalls was 'Half Pint' in a family that was't perfect but was always trying their very best to be country decent & country strong.

Melissa starred in all but 13 of the series, which ran with 203 episodes from 1974-1983. She won the Young Artist Award for Best Young Actress in a Drama Series.

Melissa was adopted into a 'showbiz' family by Paul Gilbert & Barbara Crane. Her adopted brother Jonathan Gilbert also starred in Little House as Willie Oleson.

Their little sister, Sara Gilbert played Darlene in the Roseanne show, she was the natural biological daughter of the Gilbert's.

Melissa was in many TV commercials during her early years.

Since the end of series Melissa has been know as the 'Queen' of TV movies & mini series. She has also served 2 terms as President of the Screen Actor's Guild between 2001-2005.

She has recently written a tell-all book describing her troubled personal life in relationships, divorces, drug, & alcohol abuse. Her book Prairie Tale is not cathartic, but also relates her ongoing happy marriage & what she is doing uptodate. Book was released in 2009.

Melissa was born May 8th, 1964 & is known as a fantastic actress, writer, & producer. She still enjoys voiceover work, writing, & directing too.

It has been stated also that Melissa had no contact with Michael Landon after Little House ended in 1994 & with her finding out that Michael had had a relationship with the makeup artist for the series.

But after she saw Michael on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson discussing his pancreatic cancer, she finally called him & later visited with Michael at his Malibu home where he was then bed ridden.

Michael Landon pasted on a week later.

When Melissa gave birth to her son with her second husband Bruce Boxleitner, on Oct. 6th, 1995-they named him Michael in honor of Michael Landon.

The information on the TV SHOWS & MOVIES I review are compiled through various tv, cable programming reviews, movie reviews, news reviews & related internet resources, & Wikipedia.

I have taken an interest in re-reviewing network shows that not only do I enjoy, but that hold an intent & purpose to help change the world that we live in for the good.

My first review series were on TV Westerns & trekked into reviews on Sci-Fi. Now am enjoying reviewing Childhood Stars - Then & Now. Hope you enjoy them too!

I believe we need to make our actions line up & represent our beliefs. It is all about being part of the change I want to see in the world - today!
